The Promise in Elections

Elections are a critical tool for keeping the people's representatives accountable to the people. Democracy requires many safeguards, and elections alone do not make a democracy. Our election system, our legal system, and our federal, state and local governments do their job only if we keep them true to the founding principles. But if we are not voting in elections, then we as citizens are not fulfilling our responsibility to govern.
