John Clay, January 10, 2008
DemocraticPromise.org is evolving thanks to the input of dedicated readers who have taken a moment to share their thoughts and feelings about the project and the website.
At a glance
- We now reach out to all Americans regardless of political party affiliation, as we reaffirm our commitment to a progressive democracy grounded in America's founding principles.
- To better focus on the core ideals necessary to fulfill the founding promise of democracy in America, the Promise statement is undergoing a gradual rewriting.
What to expect this year
- Further developments in the Promise statement.
- Commentary on how the founding principles can re-energize familiar progressive agendas and guide us toward new agendas.
- Additional references to the project's historical sources, including quotes from Jefferson, Madison, Hamilton, Washington, and Paine.
- Invitations to you, the citizens who read DemocraticPromise.org, to share your ideas on how we can all make progress toward a more truly representative democracy.
